Since having my first son and now with three babies and multiple businesses, people ask me regularly how I get it all done. So let’s talk about “how to do it all” as a mompreneur.
Literally, I get this question every few days. Yesterday, I got this question yet again… so I figured it would be best to share my “how I do it all” tips!
How to Do It All as a Mompreneur
Get Help!
“It takes a village” is no joke. It’s a real thing, and I’ve learned to embrace that over the course of my entrepreneurship journey. Ask for help. Pay for help. Trade for help. No matter what you do, just don’t skip getting help!
Prioritize Your Tasks!
We are entrepreneurs AND mamas…we have A LOT on our minds. The key, though, is to make sure you get it OFF of your mind. Put pen to paper and brain dump everything that’s on your plate. Then take the time to order your to do list by most important to least important and get things done!
Know Your Limits!
Sometimes, saying “no” is just as important as saying “yes!” Just remember that everything you say “yes” to takes time away from something else. So be very intentional with them.
Have a Supportive Partner!
Whether it’s your business partner, your life partner, or just a friend-who-acts-like-a-partner, find someone that will love and support you in all of your adventures… This is invaluable!
How Community Helps Us “Do It All”
I can tie every success in my life back to community. If I didn’t have a village of supportive, helpful, connected people around me, my entrepreneurship story would have been very different.
And community can come in many different forms. Your family, extended family, life partner, and friends are all forms of community that you surround yourself with. They ARE your “village.”
But today, I’m talking about your business community. The people you surround yourself with matters when it comes to your business success.
Having a Business Community Combats Entrepreneurship Isolation
Entrepreneurship Isolation is a real thing. It’s super easy to get yourself into a bubble when you’re working hard to realize your business dreams and goals. It’s also easy to get into the comparison game when you are on the outside looking in.
When you feel alone, you can easily start to feel like you are “doing it all.” Getting connected with a like-minded and ambitious community of entrepreneurs is key to staying motivated and encouraged.
Having a Business Community Gives You Opportunities to Connect
When you connect with other business mamas, you realize that there IS, in fact, a village behind the “how to do it all” of each person. It brings a sense of reality to how successful businesses are run.
Getting connected also brings opportunities for collaboration which is just another way to “get it done” with help.
Having a Business Community Gives You More Business
Referrals are the name of the game in ANY business. This is how you are going to grow your business WITHOUT the hustle. And finding business besties, aka referral partners, is literally how you’re going to grow a successful business WITHOUT “doing it all.”
How To Do It All? You Don’t.
Most likely, you started your business FOR your family. Maybe you wanted to be able to work from home. Or you wanted to spend more time with your spouse and kiddos. Don’t lose sight of that. Because it’s so easy to get into the “doing it all” FOR my family mentality… but in the end…you end up burnt out, spending more time in your office than with your kids, and your business is running YOU.
I hope these tips help you keep burnout at bay… but more importantly, I hope that this reminds you that your community is EVERYTHING. Find your people and stick by them.
