Choosing to be the light in another mama’s day can have a ripple effect greater than you can imagine. When you serve others in small ways, you are making an impact. And it’s not just for that moment…that impact can make a lasting impression and carry a mama through really tough times.
Whatever that looks like for you, pouring positivity into someone else’s daily experience can change their moment, their day, their life.
Why is Making an Impact Important?
Light is powerful. And even in the greatest darkness and struggles, the smallest flicker of light can be the guide that pulls someone out to full-blown sunshine.
Motherhood can be a lonely place sometimes. Even though we are surrounded by others, it can be hard to find real dedicated time to be with other humans that aren’t your little ones.
Making an Impact Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated
Now, I’m not asking you to go out and transform a life. I’m asking you to set out with the mindset that a simple act can bring REAL IMPACT. There is definitely a time and space to invest energy into a long-lasting relationship that can make a HUGE impact on them. But the day-to-day interactions with those around us, friends or strangers, can truly make a difference in this world.
Simple Ways to Make an Impact
- Drop a coffee off to a mama friend
- Bring them a simple flower arrangement from your garden (or the store) 😉
- Give a mom a compliment when you are out and about
- Cook a friend’s favorite meal and surprise them
- Send a random text message to a friend to encourage them
- Share a mama friend’s win on social media, and tell everyone how awesome they are
- Offer a playdate to a mom who needs a break
- Send an old school letter or card to a friend you don’t live near anymore
- Or my personal favorite… just shoot a kind smile at a stranger who might need it
How to Get it Done
I’m a big accountability person. In my former career, I was a professional organizer, so I know the importance of not only keeping your home organized but your mind as well! It’s so important to me that in the MOMpire journal I have a section for the impact you are making on other mamas in your life!
If you want to make sure you are taking action on these simple acts, put it in your calendar or even set a reminder on your phone. Set up the play dates, remind yourself to get the coffee, or to send the text. Put it in your calendar to send a handwritten note to 1 friend a month!
Honestly, anything helps! I know that your heart wants to put these acts of service in place, but we are busy mamas. Schedule it out so that you are reminded to love on those around you. Just remember… don’t overcomplicate it! If a smile is all you can do right now, then do that. No act is too small to change a day or change a life.
Mamas Supporting Mamas
What it comes down to is this… mamas being there for each other. We all know the struggle, and we are all doing our best. The opportunities to make a simple impact or impression on someone are limitless! There is always a way to make a difference…and what may seem small can mean the world to a fellow mama.
