Why Facebook Group “Advertise Here” Posts Don’t Work

by | Mar 11, 2021 | Business

We’ve all seen them. “It’s Thursday! It’s time to tell us all about your business and post your links!” We get it. We don’t want the entire [insert women in business Facebook group] to be flooded with people promoting their business ALL the time. So we choose designated days.

So even though I don’t see anything wrong with these posts, let me quickly tell you what these posts are NOT for.

Dropping your link in these types of posts IS NOT a way to get sustainable leads and business for yourself.

Here’s the main reason the “Advertise Here” Posts Don’t Work:

Everyone else is doing the same thing you are. They are most likely commenting on the post…maybe browsing a bit, and then they leave.

It’s not a great strategy.

So What IS a Good Strategy for Sustainable Business?

If you really want to build your business on a solid foundation and create steady leads and referrals, you need to create a network.

You need to build a network of women who are equipped and ready to talk about your business to other people and send you warm leads.

Those warm leads are going to be 100x easier to convert than a cold lead that happens to find you in the Facebook group post. I promise, this is not a roast on Facebook groups. I built MOMpire on one in the beginning, and I do believe that true connection DOES happen in them. But to count on those “advertise here” posts as “long-term lead generation”…let’s find another way.

Let’s Talk About 3 Steps To Building a True Network

Build Relationships – Finding people that you ENJOY being with is important. This is not an encouragement to be “clicky” in networking groups because WE DO NOT TOLERATE THAT at MOMpire. But when it comes to building a network that will sustain your business, finding the right circle of referral partners is key.

Identify Referral Partners – Who makes the perfect referral partner? Someone you like, and someone who has the same ideal client as you. That’s it! So when you begin building relationships with a network of women, start diving deeper in partnership and collaboration with those that serve the same type of client that you do. It’s MAGIC!

Educate & Empower – The next step is to empower each other! Tell them about your business, what you do, and how you service your clients. Give them the confidence to send people YOUR WAY!

Why Does Building a Network Create Sustainable Business?

REFERRALS!!

Referrals are the #1 reason that building a genuine micro-network around you is going to fuel your business for the long run.

And here are 5 reasons why:

  1. They become your best… walking, talking billboard!
  2. When they know someone needs YOU, they send them your way in a heartbeat.
  3. The potential clients are prequalified because you and your referral partner have the same ideal clients.
  4. You’ve been talked up as the best person to serve them.
  5. They are HOT leads because they already know, like, and trust you!

Then it’s your time to do a KILLER JOB to help them in their needs. And the referral cycle continues. [cue the confetti]

So no more stressing out over trying to be the stand out comment in a Facebook group post, mama. Business is no fun that way. Just like everything else in motherhood, it takes a village. Now, let’s build that perfect referral-based business!
